Sheehy Opticians is a family owned optical store that has been serving the Capital District with quality eye care since 1953

John A. Sheehy started the business in the basement office of 227 Lark Street. In 1968 John moved the business to its current location of 291 New Scotland Avenue and took on a partner by the name of William Cahill. The name was changed to Sheehy & Cahill Opticians. In 1984 John's son Matthew graduated from Mater Dei College with a degree in Ophthalmic Dispensing and joined the company. William Cahill retired from the business in 1989 and the name was changed to Sheehy Opticians as it remains today. In 1995 John decided it was time to retire and Matthew took over the daily operations of the business.
